In its early years, NPT had been contributing in Media Education and Training in indirect ways by providing scholarships to the students undergoing degree courses in journalism. Besides scholarships degree education, NPT had been providing stipends to the working journalists for enhancing their professional skills. NPT had also been holding workshop and symposium on new print and media technologies.

In its new role after revival in 2022 the Chairman NPT had given top priority to Media Education and Training. The NPT is working on establishing a dedicated school for media education. The project proposal is at final stage through which NPT will solicit expression of interest by the partnering universities as well as other universities and stakeholders to establish the school with one or two campuses. The school will have different courses which are currently not being offered by the Universities or which are out of the reach of average students and working journalists.
